Seattle’s own Golden Tate has joined the team to Uncork for a Cause, hosting a special charity event to benefit Gilda’s Club Seattle.

Join football's hottest receiver and his special guests for this exclusive gathering featuring the release party for Gilda’s Club Seattle’s very own 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, a fantastic Columbia Valley wine from J. Bookwalter Wines and acclaimed winemakers John Bookwalter and Travis Maple.

Admission is only $75 per person and includes a free bottle of Gilda's Club Cabernet Sauvignon. In support of Gilda's Club Seattle, Golden will be autographing wine bottles for a nominal donation.

Judi's House

Judi’s House mission is to help children and families who are grieving the death of a loved one find hope and healing within themselves. The vision of Judi's House is a community in which no child has to feel alone in grief.

Founded by former NFL quarterback Brian Griese and his wife, Dr. Brook Griese, in 2002, Judi’s House is a tribute to Brian’s mother, Judi, whom he lost to breast cancer when he was 12. As Brian grew up grieving this loss, he made a commitment to use his resources to positively impact grieving children. The Grieses discovered that there were no organizations devoted to this population and dedicated themselves to offering a safe, compassionate environment where children could grieve and begin the lifelong healing process. At Judi's House, an environment of acceptance and understanding allows children and adults in grief support groups to share the experience of loss with others.

We do this through:
•    Developmentally appropriate grief support groups
•    Family and individual counseling
•    Referrals for families with additional needs
•    Providing services at local schools and in community groups
•    Program development informed by a collaborative research initiative with CU Boulder
•    Childhood bereavement education to health professionals and corporations

All Judi’s House services are free of charge to the over 1,000 children and family members who come to us each year. Judi’s House is completely funded by private donors, foundations, and corporations.

Gilda's Club Seattle offers a broad, community-based program of social, emotional, and educational support for cancer survivors, their loved ones and friends that provides sustained support, education and resources on-site in the Seattle Clubhouse and off-site with collaborating partners. Free of charge to participants, and nonprofit, we offer a Five Core Component program that includes a variety of support services, educational opportunities, classes and workshops, social events, and resources and referral. Our program serves anyone touched by cancer across the cancer continuum -- from diagnosis, through treatment and post-treatment, survivorship, and bereavement, including children, teens, and whole families.

If you or a family member or friend has cancer, our web site will show you a Program that will give you the social, emotional, and educational support you already feel that you need -- support that is probably missing from your life, if you are like many of us. At our warm and friendly Clubhouse we build that support together -- at no cost. Men, women, children, families, and friends -- all of you are welcome.

Our philosophy suggests that if a member is participating in the Gilda's Club community in some way - be it attending a variety of activities, a few activities, or just hanging out in the Clubhouse -- he or she will be building social, emotional, and educational support that can be useful in learning how to live with cancer. It also says that members can improve their level of social, emotional, and educational support by supplementing the Five Core Component program activities with meetings of family and friends at Family Focus, Team Convene, or Family Cancer Support program opportunities.

Gilda's Club is named in honor of Gilda Radner, who, when describing the emotional and social support she received when she had cancer, called for such places of participation, education, hope and friendship to be made available for people with cancer and their families and friends everywhere. The New York flagship facility, with its International Training Center, opened in June of 1995 and Gilda's Club Seattle opened our doors in 2002.

Prince and Chanel Fielder have joined the team to Uncork for a Cause hosting a special event at The Townsend Hotel to benefit Common Ground and Ele’s Place; two non-profit family and children’s organizations critical to the Detroit area.

The evening is highlighted by the release of a limited production 2010 Prince Fielder Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Only 2 barrels of Prince's wine was produced by Napa winemaker Jason Moore and Modus Operandi Cellars; a spectacular Cabernet from the hillside of St. Helena, located in the heart of Napa Valley. Each bottle is individually numbered as well!

The evening also includes an upscale menu masterfully prepared by Executive Chef Jim Bologna and The Townsend’s award-winning kitchen, wine tasting and a fantastic auction filled with sports memorabilia, fine wine lots and travel opportunities to many of Napa’s premier wineries.

The San Francisco Fire Department suffered a tragic loss recently; Lt. Vincent Perez and Firefighter Paramedic Anthony Valerio lost their lives after battling a fire June 2, 2011.

Carlos Peña Wine Release to Benefit Families of Fallen Tampa Police Officers

Carlos & Pamela Peña have joined the team to Uncork for a Cause with the release of a very limited production of Carlos Peña red wine from Napa Valley, California. Net proceeds from the sale of this wine will benefit the families of fallen Tampa officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab through the Curtis-Kocab Memorial Fund.

On June 29, 2010, Officer David Curtis pulled over a vehicle for a seemingly routine traffic stop; Officer Jeffrey Kocab arrived shortly after as backup. The next communication was a 911 call reporting two officers shot. Paramedics rushed both officers to Tampa General Hospital where they passed away later that morning. Officer Curtis is survived by his wife Kelly and four sons; Officer Kocab is survived by his wife Sara.

Carlos Peña’s wine will be released during a public event hosted by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, the exclusive Tampa location for this wine, on Sunday September 26, 2010 at 6:00 PM. Please join the Peña’s and their special guests for an evening complete with the first uncorking of Carlos’ wine, hors d’Oeuvres from Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, wine tasting, silent auction items, a few surprise guests, and an opportunity to say thank you to those who put their lives in danger every day: members of the Tampa Police Department.

The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation provides a comprehensive approach to helping people with MS maintain their health and well-being. They offer programming and support to keep them self-sufficient and their homes safe, while their educational programs heighten public awareness and promote understanding about the disease.

The Foundations resources assist people who have MS, their families and caregivers, regional support groups, and healthcare professionals. Access to the programs and services is available through an interactive web site or a national, toll-free helpline staffed by caring caseworkers and peer counselors. Their priority is to serve with empathy, resourcefulness and responsibility.

All MSF services, as well as information, literature and subscriptions to publications are provided free of charge.
